About me

Design that builds clarity, character, and connection.

Yizhi Zhang

Born in Chongqing, China, and later immigrating to Boston at the age of fourteen, Yizhi Zhang is a cross-cultural graphic designer whose work bridges Eastern heritage and Western contemporary aesthetics. A graduate of ArtCenter College of Design with a BFA in Graphic Design and a minor in Business, he integrates visual storytelling, cultural research, and strategic thinking to build systems that connect people, communities, and identities. His work often explores the intersection of design, communication, and cultural narrative—crafting experiences that are both visually striking and conceptually resonant.

"Before coming to the U.S., I longed for a kind of learning that went beyond finding the 'right answer.” I wanted space to explore, question, and imagine multiple possibilities instead offollowing fixed formulas. In the U.S., I realized that even here, education often revolvedaround rankings, test scores, and predictable paths like the “mandatory” PhD. That’s not me.My design doesn’t live by formulas. My color theory isn’t a recipe, my rebranding work canhave infinite directions, and a book can be bound in countless ways. My design might be110%, or even 1000%. I thrive on possibilities—and that’s exactly the kind of designer I am."
